Fabulous Fall Giveaway Entry Details:

Hey Blog Readers,

So I know I have been taking about this giveaway for a while but I had to get the word out there and build up the suspense before I actually posted the entry rules! So if you've been reading you'll know that this giveaway is really great and will be a perfect basket to get you through the fall season!

What's the purpose behind the giveaway? Well it's 2-fold. First I'm celebrating my blog turning 1 year old! It's so crazy to think that I have been blogging for over a year and as I think back about when I first started blogging to now, it seems like the time flew and things changed so quickly and some of you have been with me right from the beginning and I thank you so much for your support, comments and for staying with me through all the drama, all the changes here on my blog and through everything else! When I first started blogging, I never thought that I'd be doing exclusive interviews, going to fashion shows, getting press passes Getting invited to join blogger meet-up groups in my area and so many other things that my blog has brought into my life. As corny as this may sound, my blog has in some strange way, changed my life! I'm bolder, stronger and not afraid to whip out my camera and start taking photos, or to start asking complete strangers questions! So this giveaway is to celebrate a year of change and learning who I am and what I want to be!

The second reason for my blog giveaway is that I want to thank all my readers for sticking through this with me and to hopefully sticking through it with me for another year, and hopefully to stay around many more to come! So this giveaway is in a way a big shout-out to all of you out there, a BIG THANK YOU for being here with me! I love your comments and suggestions and your kind words! Keep 'em coming!

So here's what you have all been waiting for: The entry rules and details. My blog turns 1 on October 7th so I will run this giveaway up until a week after that and make the final "drawing" for the winner exactly 1 week after my blog's birthday (Oct. 14th the winner will be announced).

Here's how to enter:
  • *Follow me on twitter - you can find my twitter info to the right or under the Contact me button up top
  • *Become a Facebook friend, again you can find this on the right hand toolbar or up top
  • *Leave me a comment here telling me one or two things about Fall that you love the most? In your make sure to let me know that you've followed me and become my Facebook friend.

That's it, that's all you have to do to be entered to win. I'll use random.org to randomly select a winner.

Halloween Brownies

Time to get ready for Halloween! Its Tasty Tuesday over at FTLOB's and I decided to theme this recipe for Halloween because, well I love the idea of Halloween so check out this tasty recipe!

Tombstone Brownies make the perfect Halloween dessert for any Halloween party or event. They're very easy to make, all you'll need is brownies, or make your own with brownie mix and of course your own cookie tombstones that you can also shape yourself, or use a tombstone cookie cutter. After those two are done you can just go crazy with your own icing and candy decorations and then enjoy.

Brownie Ingredients

6 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa

1/4 Cup Butter

1 Cup Sugar

1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla

1/4 Teaspoon Salt

1/3 Cup Flour

2 Eggs

Tombstone Brownies Directions

In a microwavable dish, melt the 1/4 cup of butter. Stir in the 6 Tablespoons of Unsweetened Cocoa. Mix in sugar, eggs, 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract, flour, and salt. Pre-heat the oven to 325F degrees. While waiting for the oven to warm up flour the baking pan.
Pour the brownie batter into an 8×8 dish and cook for 35-40 or until a toothpick stuck in comes out clean.

Cookie Ingredients

3 cups flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup soft butter

1 egg, slightly beaten

3 tbsp cream

1 tsp almond extract
Chocolate, white and green icing and little candy pumpkins for decor.

Directions for the Tombstone Cookies

Sift dry ingredients together and place into a bowl. Add butter, eggs, cream, and almond extract. Blend thoroughly and chill for several hours. Once chilled break off a piece of dough the size of an apple and pat it flat in your hand.

Roll out dough onto floured board about a 1/4 inch thick. Cut out using tombstone shaped cookie cuter and place onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 5-8 minutes at 400 F. Remove the cookies from the oven as soon as you see them turn color and let cool on a wire rack

Put chocolate frosting on the cut brownies and on one side and place the sugar cookies on the side of the brownie. Decorate with mini pumpkins and more.

Prompt Me Saturday...

Hi lovelies,

Today is prompt me Saturday over at FTLOB's and its actually one of my favorite "prompt me's" thus far because it's about the most beautiful city I've ever been to and if you know me or have read my "about a girl" section then you know that I've been all over the world and so this is a perfect prompt me post!

A few years ago my husband and I took a trip to Hawaii and though the flight was long when we landed it was a beautiful experience from beginning to end, one that I'll never forget.

To me, Hawaii was one of the most beautiful places I've visited, I remember after we left I couldnt get it out of my head, I dreamed about going back, I went out and bought Glade Plug-ins that reminded me of the scent in Hawaii, I cooked foods like the meals we had there, I was 100% sold on Hawaii!
I hope you enjoy the photos from our trip, these are just a few.  We also met Famous Amos, the guy who made Famous Amos cookies (see photo below).

September 11th - In Memory

It’s hard to believe that 10 years have gone by since the attack on New York and Washington, DC but time doesn't stand still and this is anniversary is just another reminder of that.

This past week, I’ve been watching the interviews with the children, wives, family and friends of those who gave their lives, who fought or who were sacrificed in the wake of the disaster and though it’s heartbreaking to see and hear their stories it is also important to see how much they have grown and how strong they have become since their lose and one thing that rings true for me is that all of these people will never, ever forget that event that took their loved ones and neither will we.

If nothing good came out of 9/11, I can say that it did bring people together and we as American’s stood up and stood strong! Though we were bruised and battered, we kept fighting and now here we are, 10 years later, 10 years stronger!

So to those we lost, this post is to pay homage to them, to their family and friends, their children and co-workers and to our Nation as a whole!

We will never forget you and to those left behind to carry on their memory, God has a plan for you and for everything that you have gone through in your life.

In loving memory,

Game Day Snack!

Fall is officially in the air and with that comes a cool, crisp breeze, warm hot coco, rainy nights and game day events! So what better way to end Saturday evening than by posting 2 great game day side snacks. Check out these gummy recipes below!

Potato Chips with Avocado Ranch Dip:

Start by thinly slicing potatoes.

Lay out the potatoes and brush lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. These get put into a fairly hot oven and then baked into golden glory goodness. Drain them on a baking rack, paper bag or kitchen towel.

For the dip, we’re going to start with creamy and ripe avocados.

Mix in Greek yogurt, lemon juice, a cocktail of spices and herbs and mash in the avocados for a dip that is made for those hearty potato chips.

 Apple Pie Bites:

  • 1 9″ pie crust
  • 2 apples, diced
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp bourbon or rum (optional)

Directions:
1 egg beaten with 1 Tbsp water (for egg wash)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. To make the filling, combine the diced apples, flour, sugars, cinnamon, salt, and bourbon or rum. Stir until well coated.

Roll the piecrust out to about 1/4″ thick. Using a 4″ cookie or biscuit cutter, cut out circles. Drop 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoon of the filling on to each circle of dough.

Fold the top of the dough over the bottom, and seal the edges. Place the pies on the baking sheet and brush with the egg wash. Cut a small slit in the top of each pie.

Bake 30-40 minutes or until golden brown, makes about 10 bite-sized pies.
add to a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a great dessert!

Today In Fashion News: Fashion Designer John Galliano

Disgraced former Dior creative director John Galliano has been found guilty of racism and anti-Semitism by a Paris court after an altercation in a cafe some months ago.

John Galliano, who is known for his over-the-top runway collections and who until earlier this year ruled the renowned Christian Dior luxury label and his own namesake line, was found guilty today of "public insults based on origin, religious affiliation, race or ethnicity”.

Under French law, Galliano could have faced up to six months in prison and a fine up to $31,622, but the designer, who wasn't in the Paris courtroom when the verdict was announced, won't be required to serve any jail time; the totality of his sentence is a suspended fine of $8,432, which means that although it goes on his criminal record, he is not required to pay it.

It's the latest chapter in a scandal that has been roiling the fashion world since March, and the verdict was announced just as New York Fashion Week runway shows were getting underway across the Atlantic.
Many of the key events in the saga have been framed by the global fashion week calendar. News of the original accusations came on the eve of the Paris ready-to-wear shows in March 2011, when Galliano was arrested in the Paris bar La Perle, accused of hurling anti-Semitic insults at a nearby couple in an alleged violation of French laws designed to curb anti-Semitism.
Dior, where he'd worked for nearly 15 years, suspended him the next day, pending investigation. After another woman came forward with a similar complaint and, later, a video surfaced that appeared to depict a similar incident involving the designer

Geraldine Bloch, 35, one of the victims said he first asked her to shut up and then criticized her clothes, hair, thighs, eyebrows and make-up. He made 30 anti-Jewish insults in the space of 45 minutes, she said. Another woman said he made similar insults to her in the same bar in October.

It is doubtful whether Galliano – who told his trial he couldn't remember the incident because of a "triple addiction" to alcohol, sleeping tablets and Valium – will ever be able to redeem himself at the top of the fashion world.

At his trial Galliano described the stress of fashion industry and the success of Dior and how he couldn't cope without alcohol or drugs. "I started having panic attacks, I couldn't go to work unless I had taken some Valium."
"After every creative high I would crash and the drink would help me to escape.” Said Galliano.  He has claimed to be seeking treatment for his additions.
