Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ‘Blizzard’

Please note: this is not my recipe - found it online and LOVE IT!!!

Cookie Dough Balls III

Yield: 1 cup packed cookie dough
Adapted from
  • 1/2 cup unsalted cashews
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour (other flours may work)
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1.5 tbsp natural cane sugar
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp + 1/2 tsp pure maple syrup (or a bit more if dough is too dry)
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips

Directions: In a food processor, add the cashews and oats and process until it forms a fine crumble. Now add in the salt, sugar, and flour and process for a few seconds more. Add in the maple syrup and vanilla and process until combined. It will be sticky, but this is normal! Add in your chocolate chips and stir by hand or process. Form into balls. Store in freezer.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ‘Blizzard’

Yield: 2 servings
  • 3 peeled and frozen bananas, cut into 1 inch chunks for easier processing
  • Splash of non-dairy milk (if needed)
  • 2 tbsp cookie dough (from above)

Directions: In a large food processor, add in your 3 frozen bananas. I like to cut my bananas into 1 inch chunks before freezing. Process bananas, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl as necessary. Finally, add in your cookie dough and process until combined. You should have a soft serve type consistency when done. To make the blizzard simply stir in your desired amount of mini cookie dough balls, pour into a glass, and serve with a spoon. Makes 2 servings.

Enjoy!

The Easter Black Sheep...

Baa Baa Black and White Sheep Treats {recipe how to}

Make your own adorable sheep for Easter baskets or a children’s table.

1. To shape the body, use melted white candy coating (found in the baking aisle) to secure miniature marshmallows to one Pepperidge Farm Milano Black & White cookie.

2. Attach Peanut M & M’s for hooves.

3. Use a second Milano cookie for the head, and attach miniature marshmallows and miniature chocolate morsels for the eyes.

4. Use flattened marshmallows, pinched together at one end, to make ears.

Eat and Enjoy! I wish everyone a wonderful Easter!

Official What's In vs. What's Out Hot List:

So I’ve decided to do an official City Girl Chronicles short list of what’s in and what’s out.
What’s IN:
Men shopaholics: long gone are the days of the lady shopaholic because more and more man have outrageous shoe collections just like we do.  So ladies don’t expect to see your men venting in front of the T. V. yelling for a cold beer, nope now he’ll be standing in the dressing room line along side you with an arm full of skinny jeans and dress pants.
Gucci Guilty perfume: Seriously I just rubbed some of this on my wrist from a sample in my Cosmo magazine and I’m officially declaring sweet scent as IN!
Calling up mama: Yes, calling your mother more than once a week or a day for that matter is totally on the cool radar so go ahead and dial those digits!

                 What’s OUT:
That old “Opposites Attract” theory: Remember a few years ago when all those celebrities were getting engaged but the relationship only seemed to last a few weeks and then it was on to the next? Well those poor souls were hooking up with opposites that they hope they could eventually change and after a few more dates and conversations they realized that picking out a ring on date 3 was probably a bad, bad idea. Now days people want more in a relationship so their looking for a partner who already has more in common with them from the start and it seems to be making relationships last longer.
Black fingernail polish: Seriously not cool! Do I really have to say anything more? Well, unless your into Goth but otherwise go for the lighter color!

Being enemies or even “frienemies” with anyone: Life’ short so instead try to live, love and laugh, you'll find it takes way less energy than hating someone!

Theme of The Week...

The theme of this week is all about doing new things! Earlier this year one of my co-workers sent out a mass email asking us to send in our New Year’s resolutions so she could post them up for us as a “gentle reminder” to stay on track so I emailed her the following:

1.)    Read more
2.)    Do something new at least once a month

So last month I took a trip to Athens Greece, started writing my novel and joined Weight Watchers as well as started my search for a new job.

This month I have some pretty cool stuff to report too! I have joined a volunteer group called CASA which is an advocacy for children so I will be a court appointed Children Advocate! Of course I have to go through some intense 12-week training program and get sworn in by a judge and all that but I think this will be wonderful to help children who are in bad situations.

Second thing I have done is start my Microsoft training classes so that I can become a Certified Microsoft Master proctor. This too is a very intensive training session which has 4 separate courses each 5 weeks long with an exam at the end of each.

I have also signed up for a 5K Walk-it Marathon through Weight Watchers which is in May so I have some time to train and get my leg muscles in shape!

I lastly, I’m volunteering for the Race For The Cure to help with advertisement and signing people up as well as participating in the actually race in June. (But I’ll save that as my new thing to do in June).

So my theme this week is defiantly all about doing new things and bettering myself as well as trying to help others!

As The Events Unfolded...

In the spirit of today’s blog hop over at FTLOB’s I have decide to post this mouth watering picture for you to enjoy!
mini grill cheese and tomato soup cups
On another note, I must admit that I went home last night and sat down and actually wrote some more of my novel! Now before you all start cheering me on, I have to say the whole event is not nearly as glamorous as it may sound.  I hit some road blocks long before I even started to write, here are the details:

I went home and realized that I needed to run out and pick up a few things at Best Buy and Barns & Noble so I get to Best Buy and they don’t have what I need (wonderful!)  but tell me I can drive to their other location 20 minutes away (in rush hour traffic mind you!)  Ggrrrr…. Reluctantly I go, get what I need and head home but of course get stuck in traffic an hour later, I’m finally home!

Arrive at home, start to make dinner and see that my dog has decided to roll around in the mud so now she needs a bath! Have not eaten dinner and am starving but have to give her a bath!! UGGH, I’m gritting my teeth by now… 45 minutes later she’s all cleaned up and I’m a mess, have to take a shower, then eat dinner and can call my husband who is out of town on business for the week. Then head over to my computer to start writing. By now it’s 7:45pm and I’m totally exhausted but I write and am SO happy I did!

There you have it; all wrapped up and topped with a shiny ribbon!

My Ah-Hah Moment has arrived...

I have been stalling all day to write this entry but I’m refueled and ready to go! I got a big dose of inspiration today from a co-worker of mine who really seemed put the whole “working on my book” thing into perspective for me with a few simple words. Instead of looking at it as “working” on my book my co-worker suggest that I stop looking at it like its work because it’s suppose to be my passion so I should be happy to do it and really I am... Maybe I had been thinking of writing my book in terms of working on a term paper or something so I kept putting it off.  But with this new way of thinking will really do wonders for me and give me a boost! I’m going home tonight and knocking out some pages! Sometimes it really does take an outside perspective to give you a new outlook on things!

On another note, I got my home office up and ready this weekend so I really have no reason not to write. My husband bought me a shiny new flat screen monitor and helped me hook everything up! I kinda need to put my books away though. I love to read and so I have tons of books everywhere, let me repeat that, EVERYWHERE! We have a small library in our entertainment room on the first level of our house but all the bookshelves are full as the ones on the additional bookshelf in our home office, hall closet and the shelves on my desk so there are all these books randomly stacked up around my desk and I seriously need to clean that mess up!

So close but so far away...
But here’s what not going to happen, I’m not going to go home and clean up the books and then find an excuse not to write so I will go home, write then put the books away and if I don’t get around to putting the books away, then I won’t care because at least I would have written something! I feel like I’m in my “Ah-hah” moment when I finally realize something really important in life! I know, I such a nerd!

So you’re all my witnesses, I vow to write tonight and finish chapter 1 at the very least... The only thing I’m doing by not writing is standing in my own way, there are enough people out there trying to get in my way, so I don’t need to do it to myself!

Dear Spring...

Dear Spring,

You showed up a few weeks ago and were so bring and warm but then without any warning, you left me with cold showers and gusting winds. I sat by my window waiting and wondering where you had gone.  I see all your signs from the leaves turning colors to flowers blossoming so I know you’re out there, waiting and watching so why not just come back, its awfully cold and gray without you here  Dear Spring, when do you expect to arrive for good? I’ve love to pull out my new spring shoes but at it stands all this rain will ruin them!
